Chris Gulesian, shown above, was quite busy most of the day at his Lunch Wagon.

BURLINGTON-LOWELL 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION AND EXTRAVAGANZA!
July 4, 2011 - Independence Day is here again, and the Burlington-Lowell area put on the best 4th of July celebration in these parts as they do every year. If you were not able to get there this year, make plans for next year. Great food, games, demonstrations, historical exhibits, farm animals, 4-H exhibits and two parades combined to make a great place to remember our country's beginnings in a festive family atmosphere.  233 hungry people were served at this year's pancake breakfast - a new record! There was a line from Ye Olde Tavern down the street waiting to get in for the breakfast. We think the crowd was record-breaking, too. Chris Gulesian's Lunch Wagon was also doing a brisk business.

The town of Burlington is home to 351 people as of the 2000 census, but the population booms on July 4th every year! The crowd is friendly, the kids are well-behaved, and even the many dogs brought by their owners were quiet and enjoyed getting some extra attention. A wonderful example of small-town Americana, the annual celebration gets better and better each year. The addition of a public-address system added to the enjoyment of the Children's Parade and Grand Parade. Grand Marshall was State Representative Beth Turner.

This is our sixth year in a row of filming and photographing this annual event, and we want to thank the Lincoln Maine Federal Credit Union for once again this year sponsoring our coverage from your Lincoln area promotional website!

UPDATE: Kirk Fogg told us "The winning Lowell Fire Company 50/50 raffle ticket # is 329148. Please call 794-5778 or 794-4162 to confirm you have winning #"

This year's parade theme was the American Civil War, and this float seemed to fit right in.
